I worked across the street from the hole during it's glory days and watched as the sidewalks became nearly impassable. I wasn't thrilled to have another godamned over-priced eyesore going in but at least they didn't tear down some historic and character-rich beauty. It was a nasty looking parking lot. Guess what - it's now an upgraded parking lot! Took a while, but they got 'er done. My co-workers and I thought they should put in an olypmic-sized swimming pool. The hole was dug for chrissakes. Profits could go to charity and I could watch carts barreling down the ramp filled with precarious items like water balloons or fine glassware. For the long term, I'd love to see a green space, possibly combined with small independent retail. Or, if I could really have anything, I'd love to see a multi level building with public green space below including local retail/restaurants and a roof dedicated to a pea patch for residents and neighbors.
