Mode condos

It’s just amazing what you cannot do with paint and corrugated metal.

You cannot turn a 1950′s motel lowrise into “live urban.”

You cannot obscure the fact that what it really needs is a little swimming pool, an ice dispenser, a Coke machine and a sign promising free HBO.

It’s just amazing what you cannot buy for $299,950.

You cannot think that this meaningless crap-blog with AdSense account is going to make you enough money to be worth the time you obsess on other people’s attempt to conduct real business with real meaning and value.

Maybe you’re going for the pitty affiliate click … and maybe that works. Because I feel so sorry for your lame efforts I’m going to click on the Loft42 ad served by Google … because that’s a cool condo project in W. Seattle. I hope you enjoy the .20 … why don’t you invest it in hiring somebody with talent to produce meaningful content. Actually … maybe you should just take pictures of your poo and post that. I truly think you’d be good at that and could probably scheme your way to a decent living.

-Concerned Observer who watch MODE sell all 36 units within a year to happy, proud owners.

PS – I can actually see stink waves coming off the screen from your shithouse blog.

Yeah for controversy! I want my HBO . . . and love the fact that some funny pictures of condos that need design help could possibly inspire a little more consideration for quality design and construction. I think it is hard to argue that some condos in Seattle (and many other cities) are not hilariously baaaaaad.

  3. Darien Says:

Great website and keep it up with these shit condos. And looks like one of the “happy, proud” owners of piece of Mode decided to comment anonymously :-)

  4. Jason Says:

I see this area is famous for cheap shit condos: right across the street is the Bellagio Condominiums.

“stink waves coming off the screen”

Don’t you think that is a little harsh? Did one of the writers from Hanna Montana invest in this project?

  6. craig threlkeld Says:

Really anon!? We aren’t allowed to comment on and critique art/architecture/etc. If you don’t like hearing or reading the opinions of others, what makes you think that other people would be interested in your opinion, notably when you aren’t even willing to put a name on your complaint?

Seriously, do ANY of the architectural atrocities in this blog deserve the defense you are providing? As a community we would be remiss to not pay attention to and point out any horrible affront to society and civilization

  7. JACKNASTY Says:

The only “stink waves” I see are coming off that atrocity pictured at the top of the page. Ack!

    Although I suppose it’s better than the no-tell motel it replaced . . .

  8. Bell Says:

Mental note to anonymous- Never bolster your argument with a poo comment.

    And yes, this building stinks.

  9. SiamIAm Says:

Pig Pile on anonymous! Might I suggest right in the parking lot in front of this place.

Note to buyers of this condo. I spent time there when it was a crappy dumpola of an ex-motel. Its inhabitants included white trash hos, and the dumbest pot growers I’ve ever known. Woke up hungover one morning to see a dildo in the pool. Those are memories that last a lifetime. This place is classic. Stare at your neighbors when you walk out the door. It is in a decent neighborhood these days. Better buy the parking space, because you will NEVER find street parking around there.

Hmmmmm….one has to wonder if “Anonymous” is affiliated with Urban Seattle LLC……

I would like to think of myself as a connoisseur of architecture but site give no insight or constructive criticism. Keep renting, complaining, and proving you dont know shit about much.

  13. Tim Posey Says:

I like this one…. I thought the design was nice especially since it was just a rennovation and not a new build.

  14. Dan Says:

Happy, proud owners? Well, OK, but you left off the following appropriate adjectives: gullible, clueless and blind.

  15. gary Says:

Although it is hard to tell about the real quality of some of these
projects from the often poor photographs (and with no floor plan),
I think this is a relatively attractive and creative renovation of an existing building for a new
use. Some of the criticisms on this site make me think that the writer
has no concept of the economic realities of building. The reason
many older buildings are nicer is because people were working for
a few dollars a day and much of the great architecture of today is
buildings with enormous budgets. And when the Rev lashed out at the Opal
Condominiums I realized that there are always people who will never be happy (and who probably haven’t the foggiest idea of the exhausting effort it takes to get a building of
any quality at all built.) All that being said, I will admit that most of the buildings on this site are truly awful.

  16. BABYDADDY Says:

The outsides are awful. Inside it’s hard to see paying $200,000 for 468 sq feet. They must be smoking crack
