The sad thing was the they’ve been working on this for years. Little sandwich board signs scattered around Ballard. And that’s what they came up with?

In medical terms- “noma” is a type of gangrene…. (from here http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001342.htm)
Noma is a type of gangrene that destroys mucous membranes of the mouth and other tissues. It occurs in malnourished children in areas of poor cleanliness.
Noma causes sudden, rapidly worsening tissue destruction. The gums and lining of the cheeks become inflamed and develop ulcers. The ulcers develop a foul-smelling drainage, causing breath odor and an odor to the skin.
The infection spreads to the skin, and the tissues in the lips and cheeks die. The process can eventually destroy the soft tissue and bone. Eventual destruction of the bones around the mouth cause deformity and loss of teeth
Noma can also affect the genitals, spreading to the genital skin (this is sometimes called noma pudendi).

We feel that the medical term “noma” provides an appropriate metaphor for comparison to this condominium.

bbcaddict rocks! I laughed even harder than after reading James’ twaddle in some of the past postings. As I read, I imagined Daffyd from Little Brittain reciting it. Unfortunately, I’m now going to have to change my secret meditation mantra from “noma”…

What’s up with the wavy lines on the facade? Was the architect on a bad acid trip with he/she designed this totally grotesque building?
